About Us

BACKGROUND and HISTORY of the FIRM

Our firm was established in 1995 to provide land planning, professional engineering, and land surveying services to public and private sector clients throughout the Hudson Valley region.  We have a staff of seven experienced engineers, surveyors and technicians.   Our firm has a broad background in civil and environmental engineering, land planning and land surveying, largely involved in various facets of the planning and design of land development and the environmental review and permitting process.  We take pride in our reputation of developing state-of-the-art designs that consider short term and long term affordability, aesthetics, and the appropriate emphasis on environmental compatibility and development sustainability.

Our firm currently serves as the Planning Board Review Engineer for the municipalities of the Towns of New Paltz, Plattekill, and Stanford, and for the Villages of New Paltz and Millbrook.  Our planning review services generally include reviews of subdivision and commercial site plan developments, with particular emphasis on SEQRA review procedures, local code compliance, drainage and stormwater permitting requirements, state and federal wetland regulations, water supply and sewage disposal systems, and traffic and safety issues.  We are also experienced in providing the technical expertise to prepare new zoning codes and municipal technical standards.

Our firm utilizes the most up to date technologies and equipment (such as GIS, GPS and land surveying and development software and equipment) in the land development and design services that we offer to both our our private sector clientelle and a variety of public works projects for our municipal clients.  This technology is also used to provide efficient planning review and analysis of proposed development projects that are the subject of the municipal planning review process.  We also believe that a firm that provides both land development planning and design and municipal review services better understands the issues and the real world possibilities in land development.  Environmental site assessments of a property is an additional service that we provide, which provides a potential future owner with a knowledge of any potential environmental concerns prior to the property’s purchase.

When specialized related experience is required (i.e., transportation engineering, wetland biology, habitat assessment, noise assessment, complex water and sewer system design, etc.) we utilize highly qualified and experienced subconsultant professionals with whom we have developed a long term relationship on past successful projects.  This provides our Clients with any specialized expertise that might be required on an on-call basis. This method of professional collaboration also results in providing the highest quality services, while carefully managing project schedules and budgets.

Our engineering and environmental services are also provided to private clients and concerned citizen groups that seek a second opinion on development proposals’ potential impacts and that the project’s approval procedures and processes are compliant with all regulatory and local codes and permitting requirements.  Our experience in the review of large scale development projects is extensive, where numerous community impact issues are evaluated to verify compliance with the standards of the “hard look” of the SEQRA review process.

Our services also often extend beyond the environmental review of a project to insure that all details, requirements, and mitigation measures are followed through in the subdivision and site plan review process.  Many of our clients require our construction monitoring services to make certain that all requirements of the site plan approval are fully implemented in the construction, particularly when the complexity of the development is beyond the expertise of local building department staff.
